Fees
1. The fees listed include all tuition and in addition "listener’s" rights to all Master Classes. They also
include board and lodging for the duration of the course, all transport
from arrival in Penzance to departure, including to and from the concerts
and free tickets to all public concerts.
2. On acceptance to the Master Class, a deposit of
half the fee will be due. If this deposit is not received by the date
requested (mid February) your place in the class will be given to
someone else. This deposit will not be returned if you cancel your
place in the class.
Bursaries
IMS Prussia Cove is unable to offer full scholarships and any financial help that it can give is severely restricted. However, those facing serious financial difficulties should contact the office by letter with their application enclosing a summary of their financial position endorsed by a professor. The number of bursaries available are limited. Bursaries are by no means guaranteed. Students therefore need to be prepared to look for sponsorship elsewhere.
We advise foreign students to contact the British Council in their country and ask whether any funds might be available to attend courses in Britain. All applicants who are still studying are advised to ask their music college or conservatoire if there are funds available. We urge all applicants to start looking for funding elsewhere as soon as possible.
Requests to IMS Prussia Cove for bursaries must be received no later than 30 November 2007 if they are to be considered.
Classes
The teaching is timetabled in the several large rooms in the main
house. There is an experienced pianist in residence for each string
class. Participants are encouraged to attend other professors’ classes as listeners.
Concerts
There are six public concerts in local churches during the seminar.
Two of these are given by the Maestri, and the remaining four are
given by some of the participating students who are invited to play
by the Maestri.
Board and Lodging
Participants live in small cottages on the Porth-en-Alls estate on
the Atlantic coast near Penzance.
The number of participating musicians is restricted to 60.
Meals are taken together in the refectory in the main house.
Music Library
There is a comprehensive stock of chamber music, which we hope musicians
will use during the evenings. The sonata and concerto section is NOT
well stocked and players should bring their own music.
