Welcome
The International Musicians' Seminar was founded by Sándor Végh in 1972 and has achieved worldwide recognition among musicians and music lovers as a centre of excellence. The twice-yearly courses offer teaching and performance facilities in a setting of unspoilt natural beauty where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Cornish Cliffs.
IMS Prussia Cove is one of the premier short course seminars in the world. It offers musicians from all over the world the opportunity to make new contacts and to broaden their musical horizons.
NEWS IMS Prussia Cove is pleased to announce that they have recently been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s 2008 Chamber Music Prize.
SÁNDOR VÉGH… the virtuoso violinist and the founding of the International Musicians Seminar
Hilary Tunstall-Behrens’ new book on the wonderful Hungarian violinist and founder of the IMS is out now. It is a fascinating insight into a great musician and the beginning of this very special organisation. In this book, Hilary tells the story of Végh’s musical upbringing and influences – his studies with Bartók and friendship with Casals. The book explains the development of IMS and of Végh’s role as the initiator of a generation of musicians. Copies, £15, are available through the IMS office, details below.

" Some of my most satisfying musical experiences have been at IMS. The combination of the glorious setting, the close personal friendships that one forms there while living in close proximity, and the sense of pure musical idealism that has been the chief aim of the seminar since it began, produces a sort of magic that is unique. IMS is an important part of my life and, I believe, an important part of the lives of most people who attend the seminars."
