Autumn Tour

Open Chamber Music Tour 2017

Every year, following Open Chamber Music, a group of musicians specially invited by IMS's Artistic Director Steven Isserlis, take part in a national tour, bringing the work done at IMS to a wider audience.

We are delighted to announce that to celebrate 40 years of Open Chamber Music, we have commissioned a new piece by Mark Anthony Turnage which will be premiered on this year's tour. The piece has been written for the same combination of instruments as Schubert's Trout Quintet, which will also be performed in this year's tour, along with Mozart's G minor String Quintet. Mark AnthonyTurnage will be in residence during Open Chamber Music to work with the musicians on the new piece during an intensive week of rehearsal, and the World Premiere will take place at the opening tour concert in Truro on 1st October 2017. The musicians taking part this year have either had a long association with IMS Prussia Cove, or have come through the Masterclasses more recently and it promises to be an exciting ensemble.
