Nicola Bealing RWA was educated in England and in Malaysia. She studied at Hertfordshire College of Art and Design and Byam Shaw School of Art, London, and currently works from CAST Studios in Helston. Her work has been shown in the BP Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, and she was rst prizewinner in the South West Open Exhibition.

She was recently awarded an Arts Council England Grant for the Arts for a major body of work based on museum archive research. This summer she will show new work in the Gallery at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.

She exhibits widely and her work is held in numerous private and public collections including Deutsche Bank, Unilever and the Jerwood Contemporary Collection.

Nicola Bealing’s fantastical and darkly humoured paintings were recently described by Laura Gascoigne as, ‘spontaneous eruptions of painterly high spirits’. Her deftly painted scenes sparkle with ingenuity and wit’.
