Morag Ballard was born in London in 1961. She studied at the Chelsea School of Art, and sculpture at Bath Academy of Art. She was awarded a Ganes Trust Travel Scholarship to Carrara in Italy, and a student internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.

In 1991 Ballard moved to Penzance and started a twenty year relationship with England and Co in London. In 2003 she moved to a large studio overlooking Mount’s Bay.

Her lyrical paintings develop a formal abstraction of implied space and structure, sometimes suggestive of architectural forms and classical geometric pattern. Her work delivers a definite sculptural impact, occasionally enhanced by the employment of relief and shaped canvasses and more recently through defined linear elements.

Morag Ballard has had many solo exhibitions at England and Co in London and in 2013 exhibited at the Lemon Street Gallery in Truro.
