Lisa Wright trained in the classical tradition at the Royal Academy Schools and is grounded in the daily discipline of drawing and emotional engagement with her subject. Wright’s large and ambitious paintings have mined the various aspects of childhood. In her recent work she explores universal historical threads: ideas that talk of the complexities of adolescence.

After completing a two year residency with The Royal Shakespeare Company in 2008, Wright won the 2009 NOAC prize and in 2013 she was awarded the prestigious Threadneedle Art Prize. Her work has been exhibited at Tate St Ives and at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for over 20 years. Wright was a lecturer in fine art for many years and in 2012 she was invited to become an RWA academician.

She is currently represented by Coates & Scarry Gallery.
