Rachel Nicholson was born in 1934, one of triplets. The family moved from Hampstead to St. Ives, Cornwall in 1939. Rachel had no formal training and started in her early 40’s once her children were all at school. Rachel has had many solo and mixed exhibitions, and exhibited most recently at the Newlyn Art Gallery in Cornwall.

‘My paintings are a way of trying to bring a sense of peace, and the hope that this will be extended to the viewer. The arrangement of objects, and how objects are arranged outside my paintings, particularly in my home, is equally important. In addition I have inherited my love of still-life objects from my father, and he from William Nicholson. Also important to my work is my love of landscape and seascapes, and into these I often incorporate jugs, cups and spoons, etc.’

Rachel Nicholson is represented but Caroline Wiseman Modern and Contemporary based in Aldeburgh, and The Stoneman Gallery in Cornwall.
