Ken Howard was born in 1932. He was educated at Kilburn Grammar School, Hornsey School of Art and the Royal College of Art. He won a British Council Travel Scholarship to Florence in 1959. From 1973- 1978 he was Official Artist of the Imperial War Museum in Northern Ireland, and has held many honorary positions in the leading art schools of Britain, most recently as Professor of Perspective at the Royal Academy 2004 – 2011. Ken was awarded the OBE in 2010.

His main one-man exhibitions have been at the New Grafton Gallery (1971 – 2000) and at the Richard Green Gallery (2002 – 2015). His work is mainly concerned with light and he believes that painting is about ‘revelation, celebration and communications’ and that ‘art should be life enhancing’.
